Hello, my name is Dina Romano, and I am an Artist who lives in Northern New Jersey. Welcome to my Website!
I cannot recall a time in my life when I was not passionate about being an artist. I have been creating art for my entire life.
Some of my favorite Quotes:
“It is what it is.”
“Keep your face always towards the sunshine, and the shadows will fall behind you.”
“ Balance is Key.”
“Always follow your gut instincts.”
Artist’s Quotes:
“People want to find a “meaning” in everything and everyone.
That’s the disease of our age, an age that is anything but practical but believes itself to be more practical than any other age”.
– Pablo Picasso
“If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.”
– Edward Hopper
“We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.” – Bob Ross
“If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” – Vincent van Gogh
“Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing. Making your unknown known is the important thing.”
– Georgia O’Keeffe
Fine Art Education
Since childhood, I have sketched, sculpted, painted, created and was lost in my imagination. I have always had an extreme interest in color. My Fine Art education began at County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ where I earned an A.A. in Humanities/Art.
My studies were completed after earning a B.A. in Fine Arts/Studio at Montclair State University in Montclair NJ.
I was inspired by many talented professors at both colleges.
I also learned Graphic Design while studying at MSU.
Commercial Art Career
My commercial art career began after graduating from Montclair State University. I began as a Graphic Artist at a local newspaper. Following that, my employment was mainly in publishing, consumer and trade fields. I earned many titles, such as Art Director, Production Manager, Production Editor, and I also taught Graphic Design at Ramapo College of New Jersey as an adjunct professor for four years.
Creating Art, My Passion
I enjoy creating in many different mixed media (pen & ink, pastels, charcoal, scratchboard, colored pencil, tempura resist and gouache), but acrylic painting is my medium of choice. I am considered an abstract artist because I like to paint things the way I see them. I like my paintings to express a lot of emotion and want my paintings to grab and mesmerize people, evoking emotion.
I also enjoy photography and ceramics. Taking photographs of nature and anything interesting, the world is my best teacher. Creating sculptures and pottery out of clay, utilizing slab and coil techniques allows me to explore in the 3-D form.
